I shall write
What does it matter
If no one responds
Without knowing each other
We can still form bonds.
And so what,
If no one comments
Without exchanging views
I can still make
Lasting impressions and dents.
And does it matter
If I don't have a fan
And neither anyone
With a very sweet tongue
Who'd always make me flatter.
And it is no big deal
That it is not read
Yes not at all much
Even if no one pays any heed.
Yet I shall write
And shall continue to write
Response and comments may be slow,
Unpleasant words, the critics may throw.
Yet I shall write
And shall continue to write
Why bother, if it is not read
If not today then one day it may be read
And so I shall write
And shall continue to write
And wait for the day
When it will be read
And when it is read
It might just bring about a change
A change in that person's thought process
A change in your thought process.

LOL Venus,
I am not trying to imply that you've plagiarized or something...
...that song and your poem...both talk of triumph of the spirit...that's what I meant.

This is the first time I came across the name of Gloria Gaynor and also her song.

And PF
I haven't heard about Gloria Gaynor and neither her song...I'll survive!

After writing something, I may look upon it with pride and satisfaction and these words then may make me, but I don't go about writing to please myself or please anyone else.
Yes I do have that feeling many times to inspire people when I write.

Yet I shall write
And shall continue to write :
Don't we write to make ourselves happy?

I love it when respected readers use the words "inspiring, rousing and spine-straightening" on reading something I have written.
Thanks Sushma and thanks sree111
